Metta–Loving Kindness– at The Meetinghouse!
Yoga instructor Liz Wendel will be leading Metta on Wednesday evening at the Meetinghouse from 5:30-6:00 p.m. as we hold Ukraine in our hearts. Prayer put forth loving-kindness is a prayer or mantra used in loving-kindness meditation, or metta bhavana. This type of meditation and use of a mantra is popular in the Buddhist tradition. The word metta comes from Pali and can be translated as “goodwill” or “kindness of heart”.
The church has always played a dual role as a place of worship and a place of public assembly, where no distinction is made between the spiritual and the profane. Where once we fought for our independence at these crossroads, today we honor our interdependence. To that end, we invite the community to come together over the next five Wednesdays from 5:30-6:00 p.m. to connect, pray, and manifest PEACE.
